Kindness to others starts with being kind to and loving yourself. How can one preach to others of love and not practice the same towards themselves. It is the norm to espouse words without backing them up with action. I have received little comfort from those whose actions and lives contradict their words. It has always seemed hypocritical to receive advice from such people. That being said, I know scores of very good people who do not let fear, ego, societal constructs, etc. stand in their way. Far from being bad people; they have a lifetime of guilt and shame sitting atop them. True happiness starts within. It is scary to face life as it is, but every journey has a beginning.
