I just went on my first boat ride since my stroke!…. and it was AWESOME! I had lots of help THANK YOU EVERYONE!
This experience and others are hugely impacting the following!
Mind: DON’T BE ASHAMED TO ASK FOR HELP! If you need, help, ask for it. I have to say, I was (at times) too stubborn and proud, but if people don’t assist you and you’re not open to help, you’ll stay stuck where you are. I know it’s at least the case for ME!
Physical: Like I said, try harder, bit by bit. They might not seem huge to everyone, but little accomplishments can be huge. The fact that I maneuvered a boat without falling is enormous. If it’s not eating junk, not buying something if you’re a shopaholic, not stopping somewhere you shouldn’t when every fiber in your being wants to, not falling over when you stand. When every bit of your physical being is crying NO and you make it anyway… be PROUD 🙂
Social : try being around new, POSITIVE people. People that foster and encourage you in the right direction. And who will support, but not enable you. I count my blessings everyday that I have wonderful people around me. Trust me, I didn’t always. It helped me to test the “people” and “society” waters and after awhile realize alot of people are great, and not shitty and in it for themselves like I always thought.
BTW THANK YOU CAPTAIN BOB AND EVERYONE THERE FOR A WONDERFUL DAY!!
To the man walking laps at the gym with the cane today-you were my inspiration this morning and for all of you who helped me today and were wonderful, selfless people, thank you.
